As part of our Educational Workshop Series, ACCNJ will be hosting a Listening Skills Workshop on August 7, 2025, 8:30 AM at the ACCNJ Offices in Edison.
Overview:
In our predominantly speaking-focused society, effective communication is often equated with strong speaking skills. This perspective applies across all contexts - whether addressing large audiences, participating in discussions around a conference table, or connecting one on one with colleagues, friends, or romantic partners.
While strong speaking skills are undeniably important, the foundation of exceptional communication lies in being a better listener. Good listeners build rapport, understand others' needs, concerns, motivations, and beliefs, and are better equipped to craft messages that resonate and are more likely to be understood and accepted. This not only reduces errors and minimizes conflict resulting in better collaboration and less cost. Just as preparation is essential for speaking, it is equally vital for listening.
