Raising the Standard: ACCNJ Hosts OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Training

The Associated Construction Contractors of New Jersey (ACCNJ) is proud to continue its commitment to workplace safety by hosting the OSHA 30 Construction Safety and Health Course. The course took place from May 19th to the 22nd with 35 participants at ACCNJ’s Edison office.

“Safety is the foundation of everything we do in the construction industry. That’s why OSHA safety training courses are so critical. Through these courses, we are equipping our members with the tools and training they need to stay safe each and every day,” said Jill Schiff, COO, ACCNJ. “And that commitment extends to the next generation of contractors. We encourage our student interns to take safety courses, ensuring every intern who steps onto a jobsite is protected. By investing in safety, we invest in the future of our workforce and the strength of our industry.”

OSHA 30 is a 30-hour construction safety and health course designed to educate workers and supervisors on workplace safety and health hazards in the construction industry. To ensure the utmost safety of workers, the course covers a wide range of construction-specific hazards and safety practices, including fall protection, scaffolding, excavation, heavy equipment, and confined spaces. It also educates workers on workers' rights and employer responsibilities. Upon successful completion of the course, an OSHA 30 card is issued by the U.S. Department of Labor.

Beyond safety instruction, the course offered a valuable opportunity for interns to connect with each other before they dispersed to different companies across the State. It served as an opportunity for them to meet, network with one another, and engage with Shamara Gatling-Davila, ACCNJ Education Manager, setting the stage for a safer and more collaborative internship experience.
